10,5 DD @18,75

Would a 10.5DD @18.75kHz find the small hammered european coins easier then the 7.5kHz?? And can it see through iron better then the 7.5kHz?
I have some places that is crazy ironinfested and have problem to get a clean signal of big coppercoin, becuse there is iron underneath,beside,everywhere...
Usually I get TI

The higher frequencies will not provide as distinct of tone on deeply buried iron. But if those smaller coins are no more than 5 - 6 inches deep, I'd try the 6-inch DD at 18.75. The separation characteristics of the 6-inch DD is tough to beat due to the fact that the larger footprint of any big DD coil is more apt to mask adjacent targets. JMHO HH Randy

Thanks Digger!

Well I do have the 6"DD,but the field feels so big for that little coil. That coil is fantastic in trashy areas. But I have compared with other detectors,Rutus Jupiter who works at 16 kHz and have a 9"DD picks up small targets between iron very good.
XPdeus is also a site machine that is suppose to have lightning fast recovery.
Will an E-trac do the job,or is it to slow in recovery?
Or maybe a 5x10DD will be a alternative, they use that coil a lot in Denmark for small relics/coins.

Very tough field to detect.Guess I have to work it sloooow with the small coil.
I use the settings like follow: multiple signals, discrimination custom, only TID 48 rejected.Or all metal.
Like to go by the ear.

Also used the Coiltek 15DD in that area, just for fun. That coil covers a massive area.
Really get attacked with signals using the WOT...haha..but we have become friends, and its usually the first coil I use for a big field. Then working my way down in size.

Thanks for all info, really like this forum.

I second that!!

I have used both 10.5 DD coils, med & high freq the last couple of years. I have noticed no difference as far as recovery or depth between the two coils. The 18.75 does seem to like the lower conductors thou. I was out last weekend at a CW Camp and was finding .22 cal bullets at 6" with the 18.75 10.5DD coil. Most of the larger targets were in the 8-9 inch depth range. I have found coin sized targets with both 10.5DD coils at 12-14 inches..........

And does XT705 have enough recovery with the 10.5@18.75 coil for finding the small coins and relics in that kind of ground?,cus Im sure its there....

The MF(7.5 kHz) handles iron better and finds bigger full sized silver and copper coins better, but with very very tiny, especially 1/4 cut, hammered silver coins the HF(18.75kHz) will find these very very tiny objects better no matter what they are made of. Because the characteristics of a HF coil is not only better at low conductors like gold but also is more sensitive than the MF coil to very very tiny objects no matter what metal they are made of.
