10 years later, I take my X-terra 705 out of storage.

Like the title says, I retrieved my 705 and all it's accruements out of storage. I'm happy to say that past MildCat had the presence of mind to remove all batteries from the detector and pin pointer. After loading in new batteries, everything, seems to be working fine. I'm retired now and determined to re-learn the detector. I would like to show you a photo of the coils I have for it. Some coils have the frequency labeled, others don't. Can someone tell me about the ones that are not labeled? Thanks!

The L,M & H buy the serial numbers tell you the frequency of each one. Low, Medium & High. Good luck hunting!

Just for a little more specific clarity, low frequency is 3kHz, standard or medium frequency is 7.5kHz, and high frequency is 18.75kHz.

I see that you have the Coiltek 6" 3kHz " Digger". That coil is an excellent sniper in high trash areas, and it is the best for sniffing out copper, silver, and other high conductors.

Another FYI... your 7.5kHz DD coil and the 5x10" HF DD coil are NOT waterproof. The others are.

It’s been almost that long since I have had my XTerra 50 out.
You have a great selection of coils there!
Right before I stopped using my XTerra 50, I bought a used 5x10 coil like you have and really liked it.. decent ground coverage and quite light too..
Before getting that coil, the 10’.5” DD coil stayed in my detector.
Also a great coil, but a little heavy.

Before I got my 705 out of storage, I had convinced my self that if I was going start metal detecting, I would need a new detector. After all, I reasoned, there is new technology out there, and surely I could do better than my detector purchased in 2009. After researching online, I realized there was quite a cadre of 705 owners that would never part with their 705. I read many statements from owners who considered the 705 one the most underrated and under-appreciated detectors on the scene. I realized that, although I found a lot of coin and some jewelry while using the detector, I had only began to learn how to use it.

If you don't already have it, go to the Minelab website and find the PDF file version of Randy Horton's book "Understanding Your X-Terra". Then, read it twice. It's an easy read and an invaluable resource.
