10x14 Excelerator coil

I few months ago I purchased a Excelerator coil for my ACE 250. Since I put in on I haven't taken it off. I have been getting some false signaling off and on but I thought I might be using to high sensitivity. I've been going between 4 and 6. I didn't think that was extremely high but none the less. After hunting yesterday, I was cleaning some mud off the coil when I noticed it had a coil cover on. When I purchased the coil nothing was said about a cover so I didn't give it a thought. When I took it off it was loaded with sand, dirt and water. Cleaned it out and the falsing stopped. I wonder if there any others users out there that didn't know it came with covers. I thought it was a nice surprise..

I bought one last year and only looked quickly and never realized it had one on.
Tomorrow I'll have to check it out.
You have to love that coil. We make several trips a year to Wells, Maine and while my wife is reading or watching the people on the beach I'm out digging.
That coil pin points great also...

Happy Hunting
and thanks again..

Bruce

:usaflag:I did'nt realize that you can buy a 10" X 14" coil for the Ace 250. At the Garrett website they only offer the stock 6 X 9, the 4.5" and the 9 X 12..

:usaflag:I guess it did'nt occur to me that some or all of the Garrett coils are interchangable. I just bought a Sniper w/coil cover this morning from a company on the east coast for $79 and some change..shipping included. Thought that was a decent deal...looking forward to hitting my backyard again..ha-ha!:detecting:

The 10x14 is a third party coil. It's not made by Garrett. The 9x12 is the largest Garrett built coil
for the Ace machines.
