11DD coil question

Hi guys,

I thought I would check with all of you first, before hitting up Fisher for the answer.

I have my new F5, and by new I mean BRAND NEW NEVER SEEN DIRT YET NEW BECAUSE OF THE DAMN SNOW!!!! (ok, I had to vent a little first) Word to Mother Nature: Snow is officially

Anyway, when I ordered my F5 with the 10" coil, I ordered the 11DD along with it, but when it showed up, the 11DD coil said "Gold Bug" on the heel, and my 10" Elliptical says "F5". I was casually told that it doesn't matter, but then I ran across an article that said something about making sure you have the right coils, and that the frequency DOES matter. I'm pretty sure the frequency is higher on the Gold Bug vs. F5, so does that mean that I have to have the F5 version of 11DD, or will the Gold Bug coil work ok with my F5???

I want to find out now so that I can get an exchange done BEFORE Spring thaw.

Any help is great appreciated, guys!!!!

I don't think it'll make much difference. I recently bought a 5 inch gold bug coil for my F5 and it works beautifully. If anything, it may go a bit deeper than the 11 Inch DD I have, or maybe that's just my guess after using both. A lot of the old home places I hunt are extremely trashy, so the 5 Incher helps quite a bit. Just my opinion/guess. Give it a try and see if it performs at lease as well as the 10 incher. HH

GB/G2 DD searchcoils are the same thing as the F5 and Tek "Frat Brothers" series DD searchcoils. These are broadband searchcoils that work over a wide range of frequencies.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the answers! And they were all the right answers, too!!!! No having to return anything is a good thing.

1) Rick in MI, is it hard to get Dave J. to respond to anything? There has to be a story here, and I'm all ears! LOL
2) Is it just me, or does everyone notice that all the smart asses are located in Michigan?
