I drove 2 1/2 hours this morning after getting up at 5:45. I met the guy who I was buying the custom Infield from, he drove for 1 1/2 hours south and we met in Culpeper, VA. I looked the rifle over good and there was no doubt, I was getting a good deal. Worth more than twice what I paid for it. Somebody did a nice job customizing this old 1917 Infield. It's been converted to 270 caliber which is one of the best long-range bullets out there and capable of taking anything in the North American continent. Nice piece of wood as well as some fine hand-checkering, some nice rosewood end pieces.

Somebody put a lot of work into it; Makes you wonder why they did so much work and then Sold it---Don't know what it Cost but I would guess you paid $250 but I don't know what guns are worth any more---I bought a 30-30 while I was in Arizona and paid $378 for it---I have (2) of them now; I did have a 32 Special but some one Borrowed it and I never got it back along with a few other guns---I don't know how many I still have but its around a Dozen and at least half are pistols from 22 to a 454---I don't own any Bolt Action guns as I just never liked them much---How many deer are you allowed in your state---We can have No more than (1)

and he (guy in the military) said it belonged to his father who had passed away and he had had it for as long as he could remember. I hope it shoots as good as it looks, rifle bore looks great~ butter smooth action and great touch & bang trigger. Paid $425 for it... my birthday present.

My dad and uncles all used .270's and swore by them. A lot of folks say they are a little light for elk, but if you put a good bullet in the right spot, it will do the job every time. The low recoil of the .270 makes that easy. I even know a guy that used a .270 on safari and took all the plains game with it without a problem using 150 nosler partitions. He even used it on a one shot kill on a large lion that came along. The sectional density of a .277 caliber bullet makes it penetrate better than it should and the bullistic coefficiancy makes it a very flat shooter. You are set! Now get a good scope and fill the freezer. :) DC
