1266x question

I recently traded a detector for a 1266x w/stock 8" & 5" coils (not here yet, be here Tuesday). I was wondering does the volume control on the 1266 control the volume of headphones when plugged in. Why I am asking I am going to get a cheap set of headphones and needed to know if I have to get a set with volume controls on them or not. Thanks. Steve.

P.S. I have searched through the forum about the 1266 and one of the things I keep reading is that it is a deep seeking detector, that sounds good to me.

The answer is yes, the volume control will control the volume to the headphones, but for the most part I run mine wide open.

I think you will be happy with the depth on your 1266x.

Good Luck,

Not with headphones without a volume limiter.

My 1266 and my Coinstrike both have really high volume levels when set to max volume.

Why not turn the volume knob on the detector down, it doesn't change the depth whether it is set at max or just loud enough to hear the signal, right????

Well, the claim that many make is that if you turn down the volume on the detector until the max response is at a good level then a very deep faint single may not have a loud enough response to hear.

So, with headphones like the,
GrayGhost,
Sunray pro Golds, ect...
that have a max volume limiter you can run your detectors volume to MAX! to bring in those faint signals and the larger targets or more shallow targets won't blow your ears off.

My Coinstrike has so much headphone volume that without the limiting headphones I had to keep the detector's volume turned WAY down. Now I keep it maxed out!

I didn't mean to confuse anybody with my other post, its just that WV62 and me are brothers and I knew that he has a set of the GrayGhost phones and I have the Sunray Gold Pro's.
In wv62's post I understood him to say that he runs his detector's volume wide open and so I was replying to that.

But the straight out answer to "does the 1266 have its own volume control?" Yes!
And it also has enough output to drive most headphones to a pretty loud volume (you will probably have to run it turned down a fair amount)

Thank you very much Mark & Ron, appreciate it very much.
