14" Excel. Coil Revisited.......(long)

I finally got out today with the new 14" coil. JW
and the folks at KellyCO were very professional in
replacing the bad 14" coil I got initially.
Anyway, weight could be an issue but I fully extend
the rod and let the coil swing easily on the ground,
no real problem there.
Electrical interference is noticable where you are
near(150-200ft) electrical lines, no problem, expected for this big of a coil.
The coil ground balanced with no problem and I at
first ran it at the preset on sensitivity. Very smooth and at about 11"-12" got a nice 3 ringer. The
audio response was "smooth as silk" with good
volume.
I increased the sensitivity to 2+ and it still ran
smooth and got a very loud signal, iron response with a good response right over the
top of the target. At 15", I pulled out an end
piece of a 12# where the fuse screwed in.
This coil is somewhat, because of it's size, responding differently to iron, my other coils would have "seen"
the scrapnel as good. But this coil saw it as
questionable.
I like the coil so far, it will certainly be out
of place in some areas that a person might hunt
briars, underbrush, etc. But to cover a lot
ground in the least amount of time with excellent
depth, it should work well.
I will post part of what I found today later on
but hope this help with the 14" coil. I am trying
to be as honest in this evaluation as possible
because $200 is quite a bit to drop on a coil.
Best to all, Richard'nTn
