14 SILVER COIN DAY and Silver necklace

Wanted to go out last night and I have my eye on a older brick home I have passed going to some other homes. Decided it was time to go and see if I could detect. The owner said sure and said home was built in 1920. this home has a pretty large side yard and a huge back yard.

Started in the side yard and immediately started to fine Wheats. Thinking good sign as there should be some silver. After a few Wheats got that nice silver twang and out came a Mercury; not knowing there were many more to come. Moved around and hit a lot more Wheats. Moved up near the steps by the side yard to the home and got quite a few twangs all next to each other. Thought maybe power line nearby was affecting the machine. Located the highest twang and thought well this is in the half range if it is a coin. Dug carefully and sure enough out popped a 1936 Walker Half  Got excited and pinpointed the other twangs and out came 4 Mercury dimes within just a few feet of the half. A few more feet away thought another dime and saw a silver necklace with a chain. Carefully dug out the necklace and did not break the chain.

Moved away from the steps and found many more Wheats and a few more silver coins. I even dug 2 War Nickels and one has a piece of metal stuck right to the silver Nickel. Cannot remove the metal as seems welded right into the Nickel. Went to the back yard and that also produced Wheats and a silver dime. Found a large disc and could not figure out what is was. After getting home and cleaning found out was an Australian Penny with a kangaroo on it!! Worked my away around to the front yard and was thinking I need a silver Quarter to get a silver slam from Half down. I was near a tree in the front yard and heard that twang and it registered right in the Quarter range. Was hoping...dug in and there she was; a 1944 Washington Quarter.

I only detected for no more than 3 hours and still have most of the back yard to complete. Hope I left myself some more silver there. Here are some pictures of the finds.

That was a fantastic three hours of hunting. I bet your heart was really pumping. Way to go and good luck with the rest of that yard. HH

Congrats That is a super bunch of silver. You don't find places like that to often. Hopefully you left a few for next time GL & HH:beers:

Holy SMOKES! What a DAY! I have had next to ZERO luck hunting home sites; I know others do well, but I've never found one that is anything but a TRASH PIT, hard to find a good signal. GREAT HUNTING, and great job picking the site and gaining permission!

Steve

Days like that when you find all sorts of silver coins,
makes up for those days when you don't find squat.
Well, kinda sortta anyway. HH Gold Nuggets :wiggle:
