My wife and I headed out from Bermuda on November 30th for Toronto, Canada so we could apply for our tourist visa for Brazil.
December 17, 2010 we had our tourist visas in hand and flew to Rio de Janiero where we stayed for a few days until our cruise ship was ready.

We cruised from Rio de Janiero, Brazil to Montevideo, Uraguay then on to Stanley, Falkland Islands.

After leaving the British territory we drossed the Drake Passage to Antarctica where we cruised between Christmas and New Years.

Back across the Drake Passage on New Years Day to Cape Horn and from there to Ushuaia, Argentina.

From Ushuaia we followed the Beagle Channel to Punta Arenas, Chile and then back out the Straits of Magellan to Peurto Morellas, Argentina.
Back to Montevideo, Uraguay from Peurto Morellas and then up the Rio Plata to Beunos Aires, Argentina where we finally got off the boat.

Hung around Buenos Aires for a few days before catching a flight to Santiago, Chile where we looked for an SUV but without any luck.
So we grabbed a luxury bus to La Serena, Chile on the Pacific Ocean and then a Collectivo to Pisco Elqui, Chile up in the Andes.

We're back in La Serena but fly up the coast to Iquique, Chile where we will catch another bus to Arica, Chile on the Peruvian border.
We'll take a Collectivo across the border and then make our way north through Peru to Ecuador where we plan to spend a few weeks taking Spanish lessons to brush up on our language skills.
By Land, Sea and Air we have covered over 16,000 miles so far and we'll have well over 20,000 miles behind us by the time we catch a plane out of Rio de Janiero in May for our trip back to Toronto, Canada - after that we need to complete repairs to our antique Chris Craft for our trip down the Mississippi River to New Orleans.
