1868 Shield nickel... while detecting with my T2

To cut to the quick... Last month I spent most of a day detecting
on open BLM land in Nevada. I happened to find a black "something."

I rubbed it against my pants... used fine dirt to scrub... finally was
able to make it out. An 1868 5-cent Shield nickel... Other than the
damage I likely did in my harsh scrubbing to get the some of it
visible to identify, it looks good... The black color gone... now down
to a dirty, ugly reddish-brownish patena...But I can make out the
details... It was just a few inches deep

I know I done wrong, but I understand a 1868 isn't valuable. But
to me it is. It's the oldest coin I have ever found...

Congrats on the Shield nickel and your oldest coin Jim!! My oldest is a large cent and ya need 10X magnification to read the date, but who cares!!
