1883 Seated Dime

I went on a hunt today with another forum member, Jeff in Mass., and his hunting partner Mike. We hunted a huge park that has given up a lot of keepers for both of them. It started off slow so we moved to another area of the park. Jeff got a wartime silver nickle and I got an 1893 Indian head and an 1883 seated dime. This was my first seated coin, although I skipped the seated once when I got a bust half dime. When I dug it, I though it was a Barber dime as I only saw the back. When I flipped it over I was more than happy. The park Jeff and Mike hunt has been around since the 1850's. The soil was inlike any I have hunted before. It's a very dense, dry, gray colored soil. Thanks a lot to Jeff and Mike. A couple of great guys. I had a great time and I hope we can do it again in the spring.

Congrats on the find Todd! I'm glad I was with you when you got your first seated- that park has given me a dozen of them- I'm sure there's more!
Stay well and in touch and we'll do it again in the spring.
Jeff
