1883 V Nickel

Ray in WA

New member
Hit the reliable old easements again today and didn't come away disappointed. Finally broke into the 1800s again with this V nickel, and makes it my oldest V nickel to date.

I tell ya, one just can't rely on the numerical values when it comes to old nickels. This time it rang in at +16, whereas the 1912 nickel that I found the other week jumped all over between +11 and +14. But the tone was exactly the same, a low grunt on the Safari.
