1899 V Nickel

Last Sunday Jen and I needed to drop some stuff at her brother's house. On a whim we threw in the detectors to check out a park near our destination. It featured a rope swing that Jen remembers from 20 years ago and it's location near some old buildings made it a good candidate for hunting. One would figure it had been pretty well worked over. A check of the rules indicated no problems with detectors or treasure-hunting adventure dogs so we set upon the place with Beans, our cairn terrier, and our gear for a quick two hour hunt. My role was pretty much limited to driving the getaway car as my finds were mostly of the pop top/bottle cap ilk. But didn't that Jen dig out first a wheat penny and the an 1899 V nickel! Also a pair of not so great earrings. All very near the site of the now gone rope swing. The V is a first for us.

Congratulations to Jen! That's a nice looking V. Charles Barber designed some pretty neat looking coins didn't he? Continued success to you and Jen.

Happy Hunting!
