18th century buckle

Youngted

New member
[/b The buckle shown is in fact half of a military type from the late 18th into the 19th century. The other half would have looked the same with the swans linking together. So many sellers on ebay list them as Medieval or even Roman! not true. Found In East Wiltshire England not a deep find.. There are later types in the 20th century Pre WW2 also during the 40s The scouts wore them for a time. But they looked simpler than the example shown. Are these found in the USA at all?

Yes, The Confederacy imported from England, althou they are called "Snake" Buckles, not Swans....................Mark

That is a beauty .........."WOW"

During the same period Snake types were also used by the British Military but Army. where the Sans were Navey by and large

Very nice!
