I have been looking at buying a large coil PI detector for searching for wrecks in shallow water or under sand near water. There are a few makes and models out there. 40 inch by 40 inch coils. Any feed back , pros/ cons? I know it is not for small items, I have several that do that, but I was looking for larger objects deep. Thanks, Steve

Hi,
I have one made by analog systems. It runs on 3 nine volt batteries. It has a one meter coil on a PVC frame. It will pick up a car at a distance of 8ft on an air test :) There is a Pulstar II forsale here on the classifieds forum for $1200. I would probably look at that if I didn't already have one. Kellyco sells it for a whole lot more. I had a 2 box but it didn't seem to work nearly as well as the PI so I sold it after I got my PI.
Good luck,
Charles

I HAVE a pulse 2000 from a&s out of california. works as good as a 2-box. this one hasn't a auto tune so its a little nervous. Fitzgerals sells about the same thing with retune as i understand. mine has an 40x40 coil, but seems more sensitive than the 2-box. on mine they told me that you could use tesoro heads if needed for smaller heads. Its more cumbersum than a 2-box in the woods, but if using on the beach it would do fine! the batteries do not last long, and use alkaline only.
