1st Gold

Dick from NC

[attachment 46742 LVstuff.jpg]My 1st class ring and 1st gold with the T2. I spent the morning at a lake a couple of miles from where I work. I found out the lake was down so I headed up that way. The lake was the resort area back a the turn of the century. Some old coin have been pulled out of the lake not by metal detectors but by a dredge. I couldn't wait to get back up there. I spent part of the morning digging .22 shells that came in at the nickel reading. I got tired of digging .22 shells so I moved down the beach and got another nickel reading and I figured it was another .22, but out came a 1925 gold class ring. After that I didn't mind digging .22 shells. I found another old pinky ring that was gold plated with most of the gold gone. A successful Day.

Some of the other stuff that was dug, the usual stuff lost in a lake. Bathing cap buckels, old swimming trunks buckel, fishing weighs and other junk.

Good post Dick !.......thanks. Appreciated.

I personally like to see the whole picture of your efforts, and you've provided just that. The 'sweetie' adds a bonus to a healthy day's exercise.

Your preparedness to dig all brought its reward.

We must not forget the hidden benefits of our hobby. Keeping us fit and mentally active. The expectations are always there, and the anticipation of what the next target beep may produce, is a stimulant.

At the end of an unproductive day I will moan a bit, but I still religiously clean my detector and stow my gear away ready for the next trip. Comes that day and I'm primed for action. Butties packed, Vacuum flask filled, batteries charged....and we're off. Stu and I joke, laugh and put the world to right. Then we meet John and have an preliminary cup of coffee, plunder John's cake collection, and off we go.

Here's a picture of a hoard of hammered silver coins found by my mate Pete and his brother John.
It was on a wintry day in December 2005. They were scattered around an area in a very muddy field, outside the town of Wrexham in Wales.

Who knows the story behind there 'loss'. One can but speculate as to why their owner was never to return and recover his wealth.

He buried them in fear?.......Were his fears justified?......Me thinks it was.

Another day, with all its ups and downs........A day you can't retrieve. So let's treasure each one and count our blessings....MattR.UK

I can only imagine the excitement of finding a hoard like this. Like I always say " it not what you find, but what you might find". Tally ho.

Very nice Dick,

Old is fun to find and better when it's old,

Congrats,
Paul
