1st hunt with SE

Hello all,

Got my first Minelab in today, a used Explorer SE. I had about 45 minutes to kill so I went to a local high school and tried it out. My main detectors are a Whites Eagle Spectrum and Tecknetics Omega 8000, the SE is a little different, but I think it has great potential. :) I used the factory preset and smartfind display, will continue to use this setup for a while. Found 3 quarters, 1 dime, 1 nickel and 6 pennies (all clad).

The SE has the 10" slim line coil, where is the pinpoint on this coil? I used the walk the coil backwards until the signal disappears, this works, but, I was digging some pretty big plugs.. :(

I am pretty satisfied with the detector right now.

Hi Joe,
Try this when pinpointing. Hit the pinpoint button off to the side and up a little from the target. Bring the coil over and down to the target and center it side to side. Stop on the loudest spot (coil on ground). Next move the coil back toward your feet until the signal stops while keeping the side to side alignment you had. Finally, move the coil forward just until you get a good signal back and stop. Here is the tip: the target is not in the middle of the coil as you would expect; it is under the logo on the coil (almost centered between the front of the coil and the middle of the coil). I put the back of the hole about where the center of the coil is.
Hope this helps and HH - BF
