1st ring with the AT Pro... a brass wedding band?

Went to my local park sunday only to find a softball tournament going on. Their were so many cars you couldn't even find a place to park! After seeing grounds crews riding around in carts and a motorcycle cop talking to some cyclist (probably for no helmets) I decided to air on the side of caution and not risk ticking someone off trying to watch the game who might complain to park officials and thus ruin a good hunting spot for myself and other detectorist who may be going there as well. Went back home a little disappointed, but decided to go next door to a rental property where my sister lives now and give it a shot. Found a few coins in the front yard and moved to the back. Found a 30-06 bullet , a spent 30-06 shell, and a spent 22 shell along with some misc. items.. I decided to change my approach and hunt really close to the house along the side and along the back porch. Started finding lots of coins and then at the bottom of the back porch steps a couple a feet over to the side I got a signal 69-70 dug it up and found what appeared to be a wedding band. I figured it wasn't gold because it was tarnished, so out of curiosity, I took it to my local jeweler for a metal test and clean up job. Turns out it was made of brass. It cleaned up really nice! Glad I did a "before and after" picture. I asked him if he thought it was a piece of jewelery or something else, and he said it was a ring, possibly a wedding band, and that back in the depression era, it was common for people to have wedding rings made of different kinds of materials...even copper. Not saying that's what this is, but I do know that an old couple lived in this house until they died in the early 2000`s and that they once had a nice garden in the backyard. Having said that, a quick Google search revealed several companies online selling brass wedding rings and brass jewelry online that was quite nice, so who knows how old it is. I know that some of you guys on here find a lot of rings, so have any of you ever found any brass rings of any kind? Thoughts? Opinions?

Nice hunt. Get that ring checked out.

Nice find and looks great all polished up. I think the other posters might have overlooked the part that yousaid that you had it tested and it was brass. Great find none the less.

Thanks guys! My mother wears a thin wedding band, and when she put it on her finger next to hers, it looked identical except for the slight difference in the color. I love my AT Pro and am slowly finding better targets each time I go out with it. Still looking for my first silver....
