1st time out with the Vista Gold

I have to say it worked flawlessly .every thing with a low sound was junk . and every thing with a high was something I want to dig , as i am looking for gold so all the can slaw tabs buttons some of the heavy foil gave a low high or the flat Iron would give a wisp of a high tone but had the low in it I dug one 7" tab and it was giving a slight low but mostly a high and was misshapen. and somewhat on edge sure enuf it was a tab all the coins gave a nice high tone , At 1st i dug everything to see if it was telling me right and it was i was not fooled one time . very impressed with this machine. I will find Gold with this machine . as it high tones on any thick aluminum or gold like say thickness of a tab or so . and just about every low tone or low high was the junker foils. the Iron you see in the upper left was all low tone. I also was hitting coins close in to the metal poles of a tot lot . and in the regular ground hit targets around Iron . found on the surface targets you may have to lift the coil to avoid triple beeps this was all of 20 minutes digging

hey glad you like it I know I like mine a lot also very sensitive on the tiniest of targets too!

Yes I found something so small i could not find it , did not have my magnet or pinpointer with , it will sound on steel shot but not to deep just keep the coil up a bit - but my guess is it will find earing studs real nice I did do a test of a staple 1" over a dime and it came thru as a low tone, so its going to mask if Iron is over a good target . and you will never know something good is just below that Iron . but its nice to know what kind of metal is near the coil , and if you want - say to find the masked Items you can dig and recheck - getting a high tone . and it looks like thats exactly what they do in the U,K every time the field is plowed it turns something up , and they knab it .

I took it out a second time. and started in a gravel tot lot 3/8" pea gravel I was getting a lot of low tones and was wondering if the minerals made it low tone so i started digging and sure enough up would come Iron. then i got a high with a tad of low in it it was a brass bushing about 5" deep and at a 45 angle, and i got one more high low it turned out to be a piece of high carbon steel probably had some alloy in it odd shape then found a few pennys that gave solid high tones and one earing that was silver plated still very accurate . I found the sweet spot for me on its expanded Disq is about 5.5 on the disc dial that is the 5th notch and 1/2 way to the next it will go low on foil - most foil and still go high on my 1/2 gold ring and you can swing it fast to .

Gunnar,a good review,like the idea of using this machine as a 'knab it' machine me thinks i will have to take a serious look at getting one,what size coil do you think is the best option for 'knabing' ??? the only niggle that i could possibly see with this brand/machine is the longevity reliability of it,i tend to buy/invest in a machine for a long term relationship but what with Svens recent reliability problem on his machine that is the only real concern.But we will wait and see if one of these comes along at the right price then i will 'knab it'.

Mega, I have not tried any other coils but the 8x11 i would like to try the super 6 which i bet may be even more sensitive on small things. the 8x11 is working good tho. wherever you have some ground that has been plowed or turned up like maybe a construction site this would be the machine for the job. it favors gold and is average on silver but if that silver is in the 1st 6" it will knabb it. the Blisstool is the deepest machine i ever used and i had the V3 the V5 is better but on an Iron infested roman site the bliss is not going to get deep because of the masking of the Iron , small bits will knock out a coin at depth of Iron is above the good target so you may as well get a two tone machine and see what turns up and the Vista Gold is probably a good choice for that kind of hunting .

I don't think overall there is a reliability problem. Early on they had some coil issues, taken care of.
Some of the very early import units, I think had some issues. Mine probably occurred during shipping and then manifested itself
to a greater extent. I did have an early "used" unit that was first imported over. And you don't know how the previous owners took care of it.
I could be second third fourth owner of my unit.
They may not be a flashy unit but, build quality is up there, I have no issues with. And current units are improved.
I would buy another DeepTech, no problem, just deciding which one. Can be addicting like some of the other brands

My arsenal Expands and contracts. I may work on getting my silver Umax even lighter than it is - see how far i can push the envelope.
