2 Nice IH's from the past 2 day's

Mark in S.E. IA

Sunday I went back to the field I found 8 wheat's and a IH on Fri to see if I could find that silver coins but only found 2 more wheat's. I went about a mile over to the next field and this place was loaded with smashed pop and beer cans and I found a wheat, a soap token that's in real bad shape so I didn't take a picture of it and I found the Chevy token. Off to the next field and it had a lot of trash in it too but I did find a real nice 1894 IH and a wheat.

Monday morning I was doing some research and found a place that was on the 1875 plate map and in the 1930's aerial photo there was only some tree's there yet and in the 50's photo it was all field. Plus the land is owned by a guy that I have permission to hunt any of his fields. I hit it Monday afternoon and found a real nice 1883 IH and a bunch of Harminica reeds and that was about it, but I'm not done with this field yet....

So far this spring it has been real slow on the finds from the fields and I hope it gets better...

Those are a couple nice IH cents Mark. And that Chevy token made me laugh..... "Ready for Winter?" We started out with temps in the low 70's yesterday morning.....ended up with rain, wind and temps in the low 40's. Calling for flurries tonight and tomorrow. I've seen several fields that were already planted, making me realize that our farm field "window of opportunity" may be cut short again this spring. HH Randy

Terriffic finds Mark! That '83 is outstanding!

WOW, those IHs are in great shape!

Those are some really good looking Indians. Congratulations

Thanks guys, I got a lil lucky on those two IH's. Most of the IH's that come out of farm fields a round here are really crusty.

Those are great looking IH's...SIGH.......Some day!!!....I have 4 IH,not found MDing, when i air test them with the 9"MF concentric coil they read a 32 TID....on the 5x10 HF DD its a 30 TID...Sound right??,this is on 3 of the 4,the 4th has a hole in it and reads 28 TID on both coils......I know my odds would increase if I could hunt older homes/property more often,my beach, school, and local park hunts just don't cut it!And now that the weather has turned HOT,high 80's today....It's going to be early,b4 sunup, morning beach hunts with the 705 or in the water at sunup or sunset with the DF......

I wish the copper coins came out of the fields looking like that around here! Nice digs.

I was thinking the exact same thing!

Bob, the IH's that I find come in from #24 to #36, but most of them jump from #27 to #33, in your zinc penny range. When ever I am at a old yards, fields, parks or schools and I get zinc penny numbers down 6" or deeper I get a lil smile on my face in hopes that it's a IH. Like I said in I think your earlier post, the best places to find the IH's is in the older parts of town, in the yards, parks and schools.

Also your not always going to get a good tone in those crusty IH's and the numbers will jump alot.
