2 tone is awesome

I recently read about using 2 tone on the 705. I had been using multi-tone and grew accustomed to it. I really gotta say 2-TONE ROCKS! (USED WITH NO DISCRIMINATION)

Not the musical I'm used to, but it really helps me to pinpoint where the potentially good targets are amongst the iron trash. I've pulled close to ten wheaties out this way, from previously hunted areas.

I've also been using one of my new coils(MF DD). The lower frequency really helps to lock in the numbers better. Found a really nice 11.6 gram 10k gold class ring second time out with it. Came in at solid 28.
I haven't had much time to use my 6"DD or 3khz yet, but I'm sure I'll like them equally as well in other areas.

Congrats on your discovery and success!

Personally, I think that the Xterra is the most under rated machine on the market. The available user configurable/adjustable options allow it to be tailored to any number of preferred hunting styles and situations. By experimenting, you've discovered a little more of the flexibility of your amazing machine. Don't be afraid to try other "new" things, as you may stumble on a few other operational functions that you'll find useful.

IMO too many users get locked into one mode that they're comfortable with and never fully realize what their machine can do. Since nothing is likely to blow up, I would encourage everyone to play a little with various features, 'cause you just won't know 'til you try.

I just tried 2 tone in my yard and found a 45 wheatie and 64 penny in spots I am pretty sure I swung over before.

It just sucks switching to 99 tones to double check the noise it's making. Any other suggestions on the 2 tones? Thank you will be trying it more.

This chart (from Pg.38 of Randy's book) shows where the tone breaks are for all the different options.

Play with it and see what suits your personal style and/or sites.

Ron, I have been using the 2 tone AM since this spring in the farm fields and I really like it. I don't use it much when grass hunting unless their is a lot of iron where I am at.
