2500 Issues

I have been learning to use my 2500 and am looking for some insight into some issues that have come up. One problem is that I sometimes get a signal that rings the belltone but I can't get it to repeat. If I pinpoint it, there is sometimes something there. Another issue is that sometimes when I push the pinpoint button, I get no audio, but the display looks like it is trying to pinpoint. The last issue is that sometimes it looks like the machine is trying to reset from the previous state and it kind of sits there doing nothing.

I have tried running the coil wire straight for at least a foot as Bill suggested. I am also wondering if I should also be running in salt elimination mode all the time as the soil is highly mineralized here in Vermont.

Those one way signals are sometimes good finds just deeper than the discriminate mode can detect all the time. Switch to All Metal and that might give you a better idea of what's there.

Also, try lowering the sensitivity a bit. I adjust mine often during every hunt I go out on. One side of a soccer field might allow sensitivity of 8.5 while the other end may get tons of falses at that level. I run between 6.5 and 9 usually 7-8.

If your pinpointing signal is too narrow, release the pinpoint button, move the coil away from the target, depress the pinpoint button and pinpoint again. What you have stumbled upon is detuning your machine in reverse. If you learn to detune you can pinpoint coins at any depth very accurately. Be wary of other metalic objects in the vicinity of your target that might interfere.

I also have had the same issues. What I found out though it was trash 99.9% of the time. I would say 100% but then I could be wrong once. Additionally, what i do is slowly move my coil over the target again very slowly. I end up finding the signal. Kevin
