2500 problems

I've had my GTI 2500 for almost a year, and about a month ago it started acting weird when I try to pinpoint. As the coil passes over the target, there is an electronic clicking noise, then the detector goes silent over the target, then gets loud after passing the target. It's very much like the old bfo's that would null over rusty metal, except that this happens while pinpointing coins. I've tried the factory reset several times and the batteries are new. Sometimes it works perfectly, but the null is occurring more often now. I usually search in zero discriminate, but the same thing happens when pinpointing in coin, jewelry and custom modes. Sure hope somebody can give me some suggestions. Thanks. Jugg

I assume you have reset it......turn it on, then hold the on/off button until it goes into default mode. Sometimes that fixes it. Another thing to check, is to make sure all your AA batteries are in proper polarity. I once went out, and my detector acted similar to yours. I tried resetting it, but no such luck. Then I checked the batteries, and one was in backwards. once I fixed that, the machine ran fine. Good luck.....if none of these things work, you may have to send it to Garrett. Good luck! At least you bought a detector from a company that really backs it's products

Mine acted similar about a year ago and I sent it in and I had a coil wire that was not making full contact. They put a new coil on it and didn't charge me a cent! Onus
