'27 wheatie

Goldburn

New member
Day 4 out with my GTI, went to a park close by and hit the soccer field.

Dug lots of size b aluminum scrap, 0.18 total coinage. I got home to look at my finds, and there was one seriously corroded penny.

It was greenish, so I didn't suspect a zinc memorial, a little toothbrush action and at just the right angle of light I could tell it was a wheatie!

The date was barely recognizable, but I could see "27"

I've tried the vinegar and salt method, but still can't seem to get it cleaned. Any tips?
