Took the Surfmaster PI down for a spin today from 11am to 2:30pm. From 32nd St to the pier, I bet I dug 25 bobby pins, 10 bottle caps, fence wire, the typical PI stuff. Turned around to head back and bumped into Spyder and then Cdr Jim "Sarge". After some chit chat, I decided to hoof it back to 32nd St and due to the tide being lower, headed out into the splash a bit deeper.
Got a real solid hit and started digging. I dug 4 to 5 scoops chasing this target and when the target was finally not in the hole, I looked in the scoop and BOOM...All I saw was gold, blue stone and diamonds! All was well until I got up to the damp sand and looked closer. It is 14k plated, made in Thailand and another pucker-factor-50 Nitro. I don't believe 2 of these in 2 days. Oh well.
I took another 100 steps and got a booming target and out popped this watch. It's a German watch, an Astboerg Sportic At-980. Internet search says its a $200 watch. It is not running and looks like it has been down a long time. It may not be salvageable. It also was a bit of a pucker factor as this watch's logo is, you guessed it, a crown symbol that looks just like a Rolex crown. Of course, when I pulled it out & looked in the scoop, what did I see first? The crown that looked like a Rolex.
Still, it was a great day at the beach and not at work!!
