2nd trip out with new 705.....

Tired Rooster

and I think that I am getting to understand it much better now. Don't get me wrong, much more to learn no doubt. But wow! This machine is something. Both times I have detected what used to be a mobile home park that is abandoned now. People lived there for about 25 years and now it is just a 6-8 acre field basically with roads running through it. No old stuff in the ground but a very target rich environment with a good bit of clad to be found. I figured a good place to learn the 705. The first trip was a bit frustrating but finally got it set up and began detecting. Didn't find much but learned alot form just tinkering with the adjustments. Today I set it in preset disc. pattern 2, auto noise canceled it, set it to a good threshold, sensitivity at 19, set it on multiple tones, auto GB and went to sweeping. Sorry for no pictures (don't no how to upload them anyway, plus just clad coins) but I was getting hits on coins all afternoon. Spent 3 hours this afternoon listening to tones and matching it to the TID #. I now know what a good high tone is now on this Minelab! I was amazed at how you can actually tell so much about what the target is by the sound/pitch of the tone. The multi tone is AWESOME!! One more thing that made me catch myself giggling while digging a quarter today was the depth. I had 2 coins that I dug today that ranged between 7 and 9 inches deep. I measured it with my digger and I know how long my digger is. Very impressed and happy with this 705 right now. And I am still in the learning mode with it. I haven't yet begun to get into so many of the more custom/advanced settings yet. I do have a question.....there were a couple of times I got a tone but no TID#, just two dashes??

my advise to you is dont use pattern 2, you didnt get tid becuase you had it on pattern two that means it was discriminating the target , use pattern 4 or 3 learn the beeps or better al metal mode but this is after you learn better the machine

Yeah this machine is very competent. And it have a lot to give, learn new things from machine every time I'm out.
I'm digging all this broken signals as well, and find them to be most of the times good things....just wonder how much good stuff I have missed.

Think you can get a tone when you are on disc.pattern 2,it is probably things you rejected, push all metal button and see if you get a signal/TID on display.
I don't look much on the display nowadays...

Now my setup is always multi tone, all metal or custom discrim pattern with only 48 removed.Sensitivity is usually high between 27-30.It all depends on the ground of course.
90% of the time I use the WOT 15"DD...
Need to buy a coil with higher kHz for those hammered coins and small relics.

I'm glad to hear you are impressed by the 705...wait another 4-6 months and that will increase due to all great finds you will dig.
Looking forward to see what you find.

Greetings from Sweden

Mike

Used pattern 2 today to see how well it disc. out all the trash. Parts of this area are VERY trashy. I have detected this field with a different detector before that did not have the notch disc. and it did not perform nearly as well as this 705. The 705 did an awesome job disc. out the unwanted targets in this pattern.

If you are a coinshooter, try all metal 4 tone. I think that is what Digger uses and he is killer with the X-terras:thumbup:

try hunting easy places 1st less trash make your own pattern say block out 1st and last notch and chose a tone pattern multi tone will give you the most information about a target and leave it like that no need to change it hunt the easy places build up skill and confidence and you will find yourself at the trasher spots with a open notch and listening and finding the goodies, it just takes time and digging but the rewards are worth the effort.

blank planet

I'll be taking mine out for the "real" first time this Sunday. I say "real first time because I was ran off by the cold, wind, and no headphones, after a few mimutes. I am sure I didnt have the machine set right it was chattering all the time. Might head over to Morelic's house this weekend for at least a "set-up lesson" Ya here that Mark???

Anyhoo I am glad to hear your enjoying your 705.
