3 Firsts--- Barber---War Nickel---5 centavos

TURNMASTER

Active member
OK so there were more than 3 firsts here.

First silver in 2010. First dug Barber (190. First War Nickel (1943S). First Cinco Centavos (1954M).
Also dug 2 wheats today the other three were from a couple weeks ago. The oldest of the five pennies is a 1919 and was dug today.

Now for the oddity. I was swinging for 30 min. or so when I got a real nice sounding18 on the screen with a single depth arrow. The TID bounced between 18 and 22 (maybe it was 8 and 12) but sounded like a penny, so I dug. I did not have to dig far because It was right below the surface. Actually could have just have knocked the dirt off of it with my propointer. Ended up being a 70's penny. Struck me as odd, because copper pennies at this place usually go 34 to 38. Must have been something else under it (?). I didn't detect any more targets where this one came from. I may not have double checked with AM though, and disced out a nail. Just odd.

Anybody know what alloy the mexican coin would be?

That is a real good hunt! Congrats to you! :clapping:

Nice finds. I never know what pennies are going ti tid at ion my 70.

Nice finds, Jeff, but are you sure that the Mexican coin is a coin or just a copy as a pendant to wear on a chain? If it is set in a bezel....rim around it for the coins to be enclosed in....then it would be a true coin! Congrats on the different finds and the hammered dump truck! :) May God Bless! Ma Betty

Its a coin Ma. It has had an eyelet brazed onto it.

Its ment to hang to display the reverse. Eagle perched on a cactus killing a snake. ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS across the top. I will try to polish it out and bring back some of the luster.
