3kHz 9" concentric vs 3kHz 6" "Digger" DD

I'm new to metal detecting & recently bought the 705 along with Minelabs 3kHz 9" concentric coil-also have the standard 7.5 kHz coil. Concerning the 3kHz concentric, what are the pros & cons of this coil vs Coiltek's 3kHz 6" DD coil? Is the "Digger" going to be better in trashy area's? I live in an old farmhouse with lots of iron surrounding the house & out buildings. Would'nt the 9" 3kHz concentric be good enough to pick out the treasure from the trash? I read Old Longhair's & Digger's reviews & now I kinda wish I would have went with the "Digger" instead. The reason I bought Minelab's 3kHz is mainly to hunt for copper Indian artifacts & silver coins but I'm just learning the 705 & starting to get a good grasp on all the right settings so at this point I'll stick to hunting on my property before venturing out. Thanks for any input......

The smaller coil is better in trash it does not matter what the khz is. The smaller coil does not pick up as many targets at once. I have not tried the digger coil but have heard it hits the coins really well in trash. I have the 6 inch 18.75 coil and I have found alot of coins in the trash that i missed with other coils. I hunted in a trashy area that I have hunted with the 10.5'' 7.5 khz, 9inch 7.5khz, 9inch 18.75 khz coil and then the 6inch 18.75khz coil this weekend. I will post my fuinds that I missed with the other coils later tonight. I did not miss alot but I did miss some good relics that the small coil picked up. Hope this helps.

Thanks 7centsworth....it's good to know that smaller coils are better for trashy area's,just what I have where I live. If I can pick up the nuances of the 705 on my "trashy" property I should be able to be successful where there is less trash. The snow has just melted off so I've been able to get out the last 3 days, but man is it muddy! I did find a 2001 quarter along with some nails, bolts etc.

I like to hunt a spot multiple times. I always dig some trash on every hunt at that one spot on purpose. Because even with a small coil some trash can mask a good target.
