3rd trip to old field site and I got my first coin 1849 LC

ok been hunting this field right by my house, the owner is in his 80's and told me there has never been a house there. Well I told him the 1886 map says different..lol

He gave me permission and first I walked the field and found glass and bricks, good sign. I hunted it first time 2 hours, found a harmonica reed, heel plate, suspender buckle, no coins. Went back again for a couple hours found a boat load of shot gun shells, and scrap pieces of metal, no coins........

went back today for a third time, told myself if I don't get at least one coin this time I am writing this site off my list. This site is the highest iron content field I have personally ever detected. I get 8 to 9 iron hits per swing, so you have to go slower than a snail to even get a non ferrous signal to come thru even in two tone ferrous.

I got a solid screaming 01-45 signal and I looked down and the ground and saw a large green disk sticking half way out of the dirt. I didn't even have to dig, just reached down and plucked it from the dirt.

I am pretty happy as this is my first LC I have found this season. Here is a pic as I found it and also a pic after I cleaned it up.

Ma, it takes a TON of patience to hunt fields where old homes once stood, iron out numbers good targets 500 to 1, and I dig everything ABOVE iron in hopes of something OLD and GOOD
