4 day relic hunt with G2

Hunted 3 different sites in east Tenn. this past Thursday - Sunday. The first site was one my dad just got permission too, CW activity all around it, I encountered there a very early house site that produced an amazing 21 flat buttons, 3 of which were tombacs (my firsts!). I hunted that site two days convinced I would pull an old copper or maybe better spanish or capped bust silver, but alas, it was not meant to be. The only CW relic found there was a bayonet scabbard tip. The next two days at two the sites produced 69 cal. round balls, Enfields, standard minies etc. Also another eagle button that disintegrated in my hand...the 5th one in a row to do that :rage:
Happy hunting and thanks for looking!

That's some really nice finds you got there.

Nice finds buddy.

Tombacs date to late 1700's. They would put a mixture of typically zinc into the copper mixture...this gives them a shiny silver look...they typically survive better in the ground because of this. Also the shank is soldered onto a big "lump".

Very nice !!!
