.....and this is all I found. It's a post war button for disabled/retired veterans of the Civil War. I've never seen these before.
 
Nice button and you earned it in this HEAT!!! I found one of those last year and a big square nail was lying right on top of it but luckily I dug it anyway. I see some gilt underneath...ought to cleanup nicely!
