4hr hunt today yields a little bit of everything

I was supposed to get out hunting yesterday, but I was way too tired from the 60+ hour work week, so I took Saturday off to relax. Today I found myself itching to get out to the park. I called Ron on my way there to see if he had the green light to hunt today. Unfortunately he couldn't make it, so it would be a solo hunt. Ron reiterated that today's goal I needed to find an Indian and a silver. I said, geez Ron, you're setting the bar too high for me. We both had a chuckle and hung up.

I decided if I had any chance to reach the goal, I would have to hit an area that oldies have come out of before, but haven't pounded the section. I arrived to a spot where I found my shield nickel earlier in the year. I put fresh AA batteries in the AT Pro and the Pro-Pointer. I kept the 5x8 coil on as I remembered this spot is littered with everything imaginable. Ground balanced at 95, 2 clicks below max sensitivity, pro zero mode with 0 iron discrimination, iron audio off. Just how I like it! I started off working a hillside and dug a fair share of crap. I came across a scratchy loud penny signal, I stuck my digger in the sod and nicked the edge of a silver ring! I waved it in front of the coil and it comes up a solid 77 every direction and sounds super sexy. I checked the inside to see that it has been resized and repaired. The stamp is literally gone, but there's no doubt in my mind. I gave it the drop test on my desk lol. The next hour or so was pretty much hit or miss, had a couple wheats in my pouch and came across a somewhat repeatable tone, but numbers were bouncing all over the place. I dug a nice deep plug and the pro-pointer sounded off in the hole. Dug another couple inches of dirt and popped out the 1887 Indian! Sweet, goal was met! I started working my way towards the truck near some underground power lines and hit a deep wheat that was a solid signal. I followed the underground power line and hit 3 more wheats in close proximity. I finally got to the truck and snapped a few pics for Ron, had some :smoke: and a quick drink and decided to get back at it til dark.

I worked the hillside more and more and started pulling out some of the relics pictured. I came across this bouncy wheat signal, dug a plug and retrieved a wheat, then a memorial, then a zincoln and then the tiny pocket knife, all out of the same hole. I think the wheat and knife were dropped together sometime during the 40's - 60's and the memorial and zincoln were dropped later in the 90's on the same spot. It started getting dark, followed the street lights back to the truck and got another wheat before calling it a night.

Total keepers were 8 wheats spanning from 1921 - 1958D, the 1887 Injun, 1933 Mexican centavo that was near the shield nickel I got earlier in the year, a Dream Machine token (local arcade that closed down in the late 90's) silver ring, junk ring, junk gold plated earring. Clad was 27 memorials, 4 jeffersons, 5 dimes, 1 chowda (quarter)

All in all, not a bad hunt. I also wanted to show all the trash I dug today to get the keepers that I got. :) HH!

Digging trash leads to your Treasures. You rescued some history in finds there Eric.

I'm curious how that golf ball rang up? Low grunt, or high squeek? Haha good haul, love how you and your buddy set trip goals! I'll have to give it a try! I know it takes a lot of digging to find silver/gold of any shape!, so congrats!!!
