Went out to my fiance's back yard to detect with my F70 and 5 inch coil. The temperature was 30 degrees and the ground was frozen for about the first inch. I had swept this yard at least 10 times with my 11inch DD coil and had it cleaned out as much as the larger coil seemed to be able to find. There is a lot of EMI in this yard from overhead wires running in several directions. I had to set my threshold at -1 and sensitivity at 80 to get the detector to quiet down. I was still able to dig finds at up to 6 inches. I had covered about 75 percent of the yard when I got a good signal at five inches. dug me up a 1958 Rosie dime. This was the third silver dime I have found in the back yard, I didn't go 3 ft further and got another signal of a penny dime VDI and thought this could be another silver dime but it turned out to be a Wheatie. That finished the day for me. This five inch coil is a must have if you really want to open up places that have been heavily detected. I am very impressed how well this coil can work where EMI is a problem. Thanks for looking at this thread.
