[attachment 331020 IMAG3676_1.jpg][attachment 331019 IMAG3571_1.jpg] I got permission where am old church used to set, now just a pasture. Found one hole with a 1917S Mercury, 1909 Indian Head and three wheatie's. Then went twenty feet away and hit a good signal, kinda low but at an old site I dig everything. First thing I saw was a 52 caliber Ringtail Sharps Confederate bullet unfired! Kept digging and found three balls in the same hole! It was really dry and hard to dig that day so I went back this Saturday after several rains. Swung my detector over the same hole several times with nothing, then hit one weak signal of a 71. So I started digging out the hole again. About a foot deep out came another Ringtail! Then one more ball! Ended up digging over a foot down and 2 feet round, but no more came out. Very cool! Just thinking about the last person who had these on him and dropped them out of his ammo pouch. Or maybe was killed there? Wish there bullets could talk!

First picture is all of them together, second picture is the first ones I found.

Nice finds timwied...i have found very simular 2 ring bullets in my area and didnt know what they were.. the ones i found dont seem to be crazy old as they dont have any patina....

From what I've read on this site, if they don't have much or no patina they could be Civil War Replica's, don't quote me on that tho. I also have found what I think is a one ringer union bullet, and a bridle bit emblemfrom the U. S. Calvary, at two different sites 50 miles from these Confederate bullets. Here is a picture of them.[attachment 331055 BridleEmblem.jpg][attachment 331056 UnionBullet.jpg]

Don't think those are replicas. Patina is hard to replicate. May have been a campsite around this old church. NICE finds. :beers:
