6.5" elliptical coil?

Wishful-thinker

New member
has anyone used this coil, knows any post about it? i saw it for sale. Is it better than the 5" round? any feedback welcome...

It is not a DD coil. I like the 6.5 because of its shape. I can almost use it like a pin pointer by shoving the tip down into my holes. It has good depth. I have hit a quarter at 8 inches without a problem. It is my favorite, quick clad hunt coil. It is really easy to pinpoint and swing. I have both of them though. People say the five is better in trash, but I am not sure. They both separate well for me. I hope this helps.

The 6.5 might be a touch deeper with a little more coverage but i love DD coils .
If hunting with a small coil i probably already hit it with the big coil
so i am trying to get in between the junk so coverage is not a big deal.
I do wish the 6.5 was a DD as it would be a kicker.
I have both and use the 5in most of the time

may i ask,WHY do you use the 5" dd most of the time?..aren't they about even in separation characteristics?
just curious!..thanks!

don!..do you feel the 6.5" coil is a match for the 5" dd coil in a trashy environment?
if so,what is the advantage of the 5" dd coil in the same trashy environment?..just wondering!
it appears most f-75 users prefer the 5 over the 6 .curious about that!..thanks!!

I think I am one step ahead of you, I just got me a 6.5" elliptical coil for my F75Ltd. I haven't hunted with it yet but posted some air testing results the other day and I was hitting a quarter at 8" with both the 5"dd and the 6.5". Now I am thinking, with about the same depth the elliptical shape should work better for me working in the trash.

I think it would be a good add for your detector.

I have to give the edge to the 5in for separation.
If need deep in trash , i will take any edge i can get.

J. T if we get together for a hunt i will put it on the
things to try list.:)

Wow! Ok thanks for the quick replies...Ive ordered the 5" dd already , but my ground is very mild here ,cant wait to see how it does.
Mainly just need some good separation. I have many old sites littered in junk. Either I have to dig all and destroy some yards,or find a
good small coil.

The elliptical concentris is deeper....and due to its size separates pretty well........but the 5" DD separates FAR better in heavy iron. I'm firmly convinced that the 11" stock coil separates better than the concentric.............If you know how to use the 11" in trashy sites...................... :detecting:

ok!.kool!..thanks for the input!
