6" DD 18.75 kHz or 5x10" DD 18.75 kHz and weight

If you have used the 6" DD 18.75 kHz coil and the 5x10 18.75 kHz coil, do you find the 5x10 coil a lot heavier or about the same?
I would 97% of the time be park and tot lot hunting and am wanting to find the gold jewelry like chains and earrings and clad/silver coins, the other 2% of my hunts would be at saltwater beaches, some relic hunting and 1% nugget hunting here in Nevada.
Because of a stroke I can only hunt until I start becoming tired and or hot and have been unable to hunt for the last three years but am finally able to start having fun doing what I have always loved but on a more limited basis.
Thank you in advance for your input and have a great day.
Todd

Neither the 5x10 or 6" are heavy but remember that the 5x10 isn't waterproof and I believe the 6" coil is waterproof.

The difference is negligible weight wise. The 5x10 is a tad heavier and slightly deeper. Maybe I can remember to weigh them. The 6" has the best separation of all of them.

I'd opt for the 6-inch DD at 18.75kHz due to having better separation characterisitcs, being easier to manuever in and around playground equipment and is a better balance than the elliptical coil. As I've said many times, the 6-inch DD is connected to my X-TERRA 90% of the time. JMHO HH Randy

Thank you Randy the 6" DD 18.75 kHz it will be.

Hi mate, I have ordered a 6"DD myself, yet to arrive but from my research appears to be the preferred coil for hunting coins in trashy area's and potentially better than the 10x5 DD for gold nuggets. The fact that it's water proof is a big advantage also. Best of luck, will let you know how it performs over the standard and the 10x5 when I get it. Aaron

Sounds great I hope you find many more targets :) I will let you know how it works for me next month when my new detector and coil show up, of course I'll have to learn the detector at the same time but I am very confident in the detectors ability and the coils the rest will be up to me. Todd

only one way to learn that i know of? dig :detecting: then read then dig then read.........................then dig then well dig some more :sleepy:

good luck out there sounds like a coil to go on my ever growing list  NO MORE stuff i say to myself then oh i wouldn't mind that then ooo that looks nice :clapping:

You won't wrong with the 6" DD HF coil as not only does it really hit on coins and jewelry, but it is as lite as a feather too. Which should be very beneficial in your case.

Like Randy I have my 6" DD mounted the vast majority of the time. You will not be sorry. The only time I change out is when I want to cover more ground "in a hurry".

Hi digger
My wife ordered the Minelab x-terra 705 standard package with the 6" DD last night for my birthday but the company she ordered from sold their last 6" yesterday and said they will not be restocking until sometime in OCTOBER, she did a layaway plan and will be paying it off the beginning of August. They where nice and offered her the 10x5 for now if she did not want to wait for the 6" DD to mail sometime in October and then a great deal on the 6" when stocked and we where ready to spend more. We trust them but I have never been one who buys something and then waits a couple months for part of the purchase when a company restocks so we ended up getting the 10x5 with the stock package for almost free and was offered the 6" DD at an extremely low price when it's in stock and we are ready to purchase it.
I am letting you know this Randy/digger and everyone else because I really value your advice and told you I was going to follow it. I just do not want to start off on my first forum looking like I am some sort of flake or liar and hope when I ask for advice in the future you will still help me out.
Once again I'm sorry I said one thing but did another because a man is only as good as his word.
