So for Christmas I got a new Lesche Sampson shovel and a rain cover for the T2. Even though it was muddy out, I just felt the need to get the shovel dirty. Turns out it was a good thing I did,,, as I got my first gold ring. It was a bouncy signal (52 to 70's), about 7 inches down in a field. Also found a old Smurf brooch that I think may be one of the original ones from the 80's. The plastic zombie was a surface find. Not bad for a quick one hour hunt!!

I hope that I'm wrong but your ring looks plated. It looks pitted in several places.
Regardless, you were able to get out and sounds like you had a good Christmas.
Congratulations and hope it turns out to be the real deal.

Yeah,, I thought it was plated at first too,,, it sure looked like it,,,,, but it was just dirt smeared on it. A little scrubbing and it buffed right off.

After some cleaning. There is some damage to the rim and a couple of deep scratches on the ring, but it appears to be gold through and through.

Thanks guys. On a side note,,, I had my wife sew that steel button on a pair of jeans for me this evening. Always glad to put something back into service.
