Paying homage to "Woodchiphustler",,,,,, I'm a believer!! Been tinkering with 60-39-BP with the big coil too.

Today I took my new Teknetics T2 SE with the 5" DD coil to the old iron infested, "turn of the century" home site I hunt in Greenville County. I keep returning there because it keeps giving up finds, and today was no exception. On the surface,, this looks like a pile of mostly junk. However, when you take into account that I have previously pounded this place many, many times with the Whites MXT with multiple coils,,,, it becomes pretty apparent that the T2 is a pretty impressive piece of equipment that really shows off in iron. All of these shotgun shells came from a 100 X 100 foot area, that again has been pounded many times. The "keepers" are a tiny brass brooch pin, some lantern parts, a suspender latch and a really cool stamped brass "something" that I believe relates to the Wright Brothers flight.

Great hunt, what settings were you using? I love the 5" DD on my T2 'Classic'. I run with a bit less sensitivity at 40, Discrim at 10 and tones either 2+ or 3. I also lift the coil slightly in the heavy nails (5-10 nails per hole) to run a little quieter and let the discimination do its job without overloading. It can really hit the good targets in the iron. No doubt when you get a good signal! I have been amazed what I have pulled out of the trash.

Some very nice finds,the little 5'' coil is deadly in really trashy sites and also pretty deep for such a small coil,must admit dont use it all that much mainly when the stubble is still very stiff when the crops come off and also on rally trash saxon/roman sites as well.

But as most of my detecting is done on old pasture sites or ploughed and rolled such a small coil would be a waste of time,so i tend too use the NEL Storm,Mars Tiger and the large SEF15x12 coils which can not only give me much great depth in clean ground but also much better coverage.

So it's looking like the airplane button looking thingee might have been a 1910 era Wright Flyer air show souvenir. Not 100% confirmed yet,,, but for sure plausible.
