705 and dimes how's yours ID?

Digdoggy

Hi, how's your 705 on dimes. I was using the digger coil and getting these 2"-3" round can lids giving VID 38 and 40. I get that on a lot of dimes. Dig many lids and finaly gave up on dimes.

The same thing happens with zinc mason jar lids hitting 42-44-46.
One trick for avoiding those, is to raise your coil above the target. If you have the coil 8-12" above the target and you're still registering a hit, it's bigger than a dime.
Pinpoint Sizing can also help, as can learning that those sounds are bigger and louder than what a dime sounds like.

Thank you, I actually did do the coil raise and it helped except for deep lids. Although I discontinued digging past 5-6 inches fairly sure its a lid past the reasonable dime depth.
I sometimes get a 36 and that's a dime with patina/ crud. I think 36 is more the norm for clad dimes and the digger coil is pushing it up a couple segments. Not sure about that, just think it may.
