705 on the beach (in Italy)

Greetings!

I'm owner of an x-terra 705 with 18.75 khz, 10,5" coil from 2 weeks. I have purchased the unit as a complement digital detector for my trusted Sov GT and detector pro pulse. I am mainly a beach hunter but i intend to use the x terra for land hunting.

However of my first 4 hunt with the terra, 3 where on the beach. I can say that the detector performed very well on dry sand, even in trashy areas. On the surf i managed to recover a .50 euro coin and an aluminium medal. Not Bad, but i re- worked the same patch of beach (About 20 meters of surf line) with the Sov GT and i recovered 5 more target (pull tabs) that the terra failed to locate. I worked with beach GB, tracking and sens on 22.

Was the X-terra on his operational limit or it could be set to perform better on wet salt sand?

What do you think?

Given that you have a Sovereign, The X-Terra will only get about half the depth of the Sov in the wet sand. There are very few detectors indeed that can match it with a Sov in the wet stuff. One of the very best in wet sand. The X-Terra is very typical in wet sand for a VLF detector.
Mick Evans.
