8" Excelerator Coil

Has any one had any experience using the 8" Excelerator coil.
I am thinking about getting one and wanted to know if it is a good coil. Also the 5" excelerator coil.

At first it was a great coil and I loved it. It was a present from my wife for Christmas. Now I only get out to detect about 80 hours a year (that also includes water hunting,) so I do not have the time to be a professional detectorist. About a year and a half later it started to act up. So I went to Kellyco to have it looked at and to look at a new Explorer II. ( I was using a DFX at the time). I was informed that the coil was no good and because there is only a 1 year warranty, they could not help me. I couldn't believe it.... I tried to explain to the guy that it had very few hours on it but he just kept apologizing and said that there was nothing else he could do. So I left and spent 1200.00 dollars with someone else. Hope they are happy with there customer service, I sure wasn't.

tony . I have the 4.5 x 7 Excelerator Coil and it works great . This way you have both in one ( Kinda ) . I use it around cellar holes . comes in handy around heavy brush and rocks .

I use a 5" excellerator on my sovereign. I had to file a little off the two prongs where the shaft fits. Electrically it seems to work good.

My 8" Excelerator seems to work great. Though I have been hunting rather new parks in my area only 6 or so years old. Not that much trash (I almost said nothing valuable also but my friend found an earring with 9 real diamonds so even in a new park it is there) so I have been using the stock coil. I do have a 4.5x7 on the way.

I have the 5" and love it. The only problem (minor) I have is that the depth scale reads off with this coil. The object is usually half of what the scale reads.
