The HF coils are excellent for jewelry and coins. However, since I've not hunted the Gulf Shores, I can't say what to expect for mineralzation levels. As you probably know, DD coils will out perform concentrics in highly mineralized soils. If you know someone down that way, even if they don't have an X-TERRA, ask them about the mineralization. If it is moderate or low, the 9-inch should do you well. If it is a highly mineralized area, you'd do better with a DD coil. JMHO HH Randy
