9 inch mf concentric coil

Rec'd the 9" coil I ordered to complement my 5x10 hf dd, surprising to me, on an air test I get an extra inch over the DD coil. This is on everything, penny, nickel, dime, quarter, gold ring, pull tab and nail. Some were even more.

Of all the coils, my 6 X 10 provides the least depth in my moderately mineralized soil. It's tough to compare DD to concentric when they are not the same size or shape. But in moderate ground conditions, a concentric coil will obtain more depth and provides a more accurate TID than a DD coil of comparible size. DD coils are designed to provide more coverage per sweep, and to help overcome the effects of mineralzation. JMHO HH Randy

gambler, as morelic said, X-Terra's get more depth in the ground than in the air.

Yes the 6 x 10(or 5x10) gets the lease depth of all the coils on coin sized objects in moderate soil. But for gold prospecting for very tiny gold nuggets about 1/4", especially about 1/8" or smaller a person will find this is where this coil shines and will actually go deeper on a minute micro sized gold nugget than a bigger coil, especially in high mineralization.

Garrett has one for their GTI 2500 and also Whites has a stock 12" Concentric coil(CC) with their new MXT Pro, I wonder if this coil is deeper on coin sized objects than the 9" or 9.5" CC? Because Whites says their 15" CC is not good for coin sized objects, only bigger sized caches. In other words too big of a CC will have a reverse effect and have less-lose depth on coin sized objects. I am saying this because would the X-Terra's benefit with more depth on coin sized objects and also more coverage with a bit larger sized CC to round 12" in size, or not?

But IMO I think the X-Terra's would benefit with an elliptical DD coil about 9" or 10" x 18" in size with more precious ground coverage(on homesteads - fields) and no less depth, maybe the same more on coin sized objects as compared to the round 10.5" DD's or 9" CC's. Also would elliptical shaped CC's work on the X-Terra's for more coverage as Garrett makes them.

I just recently bought a CoilTek round 15" DD WOT(also available for Minelab BBS and FBS machines) for my Musketeer Advantage. I do like it, I used it twice but have not depth tested it yet, it is suppose to be deeper on coin sized objects than the stock TS 800 or TS 1000, but I do not know. If it is at least the same depth on coin sized objects, I will still benefit with more (precious) ground coverage in larger fields and at the beach.
