90 minutes at Forest Park

Wife and oldest daughter are huge soccer fans so when the Professional women's soccer league started back up and St. Louis got a team they were very excited. Had to go to the inaugural game on Saturday in Edwardsville IL. That is a 4 hour drive for me so the only way I agreed was if I could stop off at Forest Park for 3 hours of hunting. Fair enough?

Well, my 3 hour hunt got severely diminished once we got to the park at was stuck in a traffic jam.... IN THE PARK. It was absolutely nuts. it took me exactly 1 hour:yikes: to get to the zoo area where my wife and kids were going to hang out while I hunted. 1 freakin hour once we entered the park. I was fuming. My precious time was slipping away and I knew we would have to leave earlier to fight traffic getting out.

So anyways, my 3 hours was cut down to about 90 minutes on the hill by the zoo. It was so trashy there that I got multiple signals each sweep and my 6" excelerator was at home  My only choice was to slow down clear my head and enjoy what i could.

Through the trash I was able to pick out 2 wheat cents and a couple silver roosies. Not bad for a short hunt.

I am happy anytime I find silver but knowing what that park is capable of producing, I was a little disappointed I couldn't scare up at least 1 old coin.

Congrats on your finds! That park is always nuts on a nice early spring weekend day - especially with highway 40 shut down... Anytime you find any silver out there, you've had a good day! I've hunted out there religiously for over 20 years and its hard for me to scare up any silver anymore. Take care and HH, Mike.

Sliver is sliver, better than not being able to hunt at all, see you at the meeting..

He still needs a permit to hunt "our" parks

Aw, come on Guv. You mean I did not earn a lifetime permit last October when I let you use my spare headphones because you forgot yours:lol: saving you a trip all the way home to get them?????
