This is a testimony that i just sent to a freind but realized in doing so that HE would want me to share further.
Hi Ken,
I can't express how much it means for you to share your testimony with me. Not only for me, but more importantly..For you.
I have recently learned that by doing so. Not only are we showing others, thru the words of our testimony, what our Lord and Saviour has done for us, we are strengthening our own relationship with Him.
Let me give you an account of a recent testimony of mine.
I have been asked a few times over the past 5 er 7 years to give my testimony. I allways cordialy denied. I allways thot to myself. Why should i tell someone about something that i hold near and dear between Jesus and myself.I also thot that by doing so i was boasting. And we all know what the Lord has to say about that.
Ken, i couldn't have been more wrong !!!!!
We are commanded by Jesus to share the Gospel. To evangelize. Again, i tho that that was something that i could never do for a number of reasons.INcluding, fear of denial, lack of knowledge of His word etc etc.
Afew months ago i was attendng our mens prayer breakfst at our curch and one of the fellas says...." we have an opening for May, anyone wanna give a talk that month ?"
My hand shot right up and the words "I will" loudly poured out of my mouth.:what:
I couldn't believe that i did that !!! I was terrified !!!!!
I quickly realized that God had raised my hand and opened my mouth. NO turning back now Jim.
Well i worked on that talk over the next few months and before ya know the first saturday morning in may was there and there i found myself about a half hour before D-time in a dark room on my knees begging God for help.
I stood up, unfolded my pages and i TOTALY BLEW IT !!!!! I stumbled and stamered and i even skipped an entire page front and back. Wracked with embarrasment i couldn't sit back down fast enough.
However, the next day i realized how WONDERFULLY BLESSED i was over that ordeal.
God told me loud and clear, thank you my son for being obedient to Me.
You see Ken, it wasn't about delivering a message, It was about me obeying God. In doing so Ken He rewarded me with the courage to give this testimony much like i'm doing now.I have had the opportunity to speak it in front of others 3 er 4 times since.
I even...check this out......stood in front of our congregation on 17 June, yep, fathers day, and gave this testimony in one paragraph prior to playing my guitar and singing the song "OVERCOME" .( the song was not my choice but His ) Something that just a month or two ago Ken you could not have paid or threatened me into doing.
What i'm tryin to say Ken is that by HUMBLY sharing our testimonies, we trust in Him to give us the courage to step out, be obedient to Him and allow Him to shower us with His blessings.
And shower me He has. He is giving me not only the courage, but the desire and fortitude to step up and be the man of God that He has designed ALL of us to be.
The courage and more importantly, the wisdom that i need to do what is neccessary to help and bring my sons to thier Lord and Saviour. But, that is another story.
I pray that my brief testimony here Ken can be inspiring to you and maybe open your eyes just a bit more to what God's plan really is for you.
I can tell you with great assurance one thing Ken.
Watch the movie COURAGEOUS, ( with your son(s) ), and you will very clearly see one aspect of what Gods' plan is for you and he/them both.I urge you read the book " The Resolution for Men " $12 at walmart. These two things will change your lives forever. I gaurantee it.
The Lord and His Holy Spirit be with you and live thru you allways Ken.
Jim
PS, i reccomend buyin the movie, once jist aint enough. Not only that, you will be eager to share it.
PSS, a group of us men at our church are taking and signing the Resolution on 1 July.
Please pray for us all.
