A buck deer paid us a visit this evening, and it will be his last visit...................

Earlier today, Debbie took two flower plants that were planted in hanging flower plant pots to the back yard to be watered. After she watered them, she left the flowers in the yard because the sun had finally made it's appearance.
This evening a buck deer entered the back yard by going under the fence. We were sitting at the kitchen table when he entered our yard to eat some corn that we had put out for the deer and other animals. We did not recognise this deer, he was a stranger, not one of the "regulars" that come here to eat each evening. Just something about this deer, you could tell that he was trouble from the start.
He was not here five minutes and he got cross ways with me...he was in trouble. One of our barn cats had started crossing the yard, and the deer decided he would chase the cat...probably had intent to do bodily harm to the cat. He chased the cat under the picnic table. I came out into the back yard and chased that trouble making deer across the yard, through the fence, and out into the pasture.
I came back into the house, sat down at the kitchen table and finished drinking my cup of coffee. While Debbie and I were visiting, Debbie said "He is back." Sure enough, he had come back and was eating the bark on one of the new trees that I had planted recently. Out the back door I went again, chased him through the fence, out into the pasture. This time he went across the pasture and down the bank to Leon Creek. I thought to myself, good riddance!
As I headed to the house, some of the barn cats were arriving for their evening meal. I went into the house and got their food, and brought it back outside for the cats. That done, I decided to go back into the house, visit with Debbie again, and try to finally enjoy a cup of coffee in a stress free environment...WRONG! Looked out the window, he was back!!! He was chasing the cats. That was it, that was the last straw...out the door I went again. He immediately headed for the fence, across the pasture, down the creek bank. I waited a few minutes to make sure that he was indeed gone.
Well, let's try it again, all I want is a good cup of coffee, want to relax for a few minutes! I told Debbie to wait a few minutes before pouring me a cup of coffee, let's make sure the buck deer does not come back. Ten minutes, fifteen minutes, twenty minutes...no buck deer in site. Finally, I was going to enjoy a good cup of coffee...WRONG AGAIN! Debble shouted "He's back and he is eating my planted flowers!" That was the last straw. Out the door I went again...that deer was really in trouble this time. By the time I stepped out onto the back porch, he had already completely eaten one of the flowers and when he saw me, somehow he got his horn caught in the wire of the second hanging plant flower pot. He headed full speed for the fence, and when he hit the fence, the flower pot was still tangled in his horn. The flower pot exploded, bits and pieces of flower and soil went in all directions...he made it under the fence with the wire still tangled in his horn. Debbie had come outside, and was yelling about her flowers. The darn barn cats were no where to be seen, guess they were hiding in the barn.
I told Debbie to fix me a thermos of coffee, and I got the 30-30 rifle and sat on the back porch for over an hour...he did not come back, which was good for him! That buck deer is not welcomed here, I do not want him back here! I do not know where he came from, but he best go back the way he came! I have been watching for him, but so far he has not come back. I told Debbie that I would get her some more flowers tomorrow. This has not been a quiet, stress free evening! Please have a great day! I can't say for sure Kelley but it may be that what
you have down there is a yankee deer enjoying your
hospitality and the warm weather.Go easy on him, he
don't mean no harm.

that my geese keep getting mine! I just imagine that deer was a little confused when he smelled the corn, don't you? Would he really hurt your barn cats?
Seems strange, some people don't have a clue what a real live deer looks like, much less get to watch one in their back yard!
And it sure sounds like you're kissin' up to your wife! <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol"> <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol">

Among the deer that a free meal can be had at the Kelley ranch! <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol"> <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol"> If this trouble maker don't learn his lesson soon you may be forced to take drastic action!Maybe when that flower pot exploded it scared him so bad he is still running!

feed them the scraps <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol">
Is the moon out tonight? <img src="/metal/html/grin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":grin">

maybe a load of rock salt would be in order. It sounds like someones pet that got lost. I have seen a lot of deer come in and acting like that is not right.
It is too bold

I think that this buck deer had been around people and had lost some of it's fear of people. He sure was a pest...he has not returned, thank goodness! Please have a great day! Kelley (Texas) <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">

bulldog him like that old time, Black Rodeo star did. I read that he would bulldog by biteing the sucker right on the nose and would control him that way, sorta like a twitch.
Now if you would set in a tree, right over the flowers and when he came under, drop on the sucker and bite him right on the nose. Be careful now, it has been cold down your way and he might have a snotty nose. Gotta try to avoid them there deer boogers. <img src="/metal/html/biggrin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":D">

in my neighborhood. Keep that 30-30 handy!

and it is quite common for the deer to come into the yard during the day. When hunting season starts, they sorta disappear for a few months. The most destructive animal is the ferrel hog because they will tear up your yard by eating the roots to your grass.
This is a dry region and the deer and other animals will come into the yards for water. We also put corn out for them to eat. Unfortunately, the bad animals will also come to eat...guess you have to take the good with the bad. Please have a great day!
