I hit the honey hole again today and braved the freezing temps off the water. I decided to start digging all pulltab signals in my quest for gold. Well, I managed 50 or so pulltabs, and zero gold! Ah well, there is probably another 300 or so pulltab signals left out there. If not more.
I did manage to find these two large cents. Both are 1892. These were found in the same hole, literally stuck together. You can see the lines in the pic around the edge of the two coins where they covered each other. Obviously this kept the two sides in beautiful shape, and it's natural copper colour...except the green crust, which should come off. I took a pic of the obverse so that the colour/patina difference can be seen.
I also picked up this strange little swastika pin...with the pin broken off.
My quest for gold will continue this week.

Very cool finds! Even if you don't find much gold, I can promise you clearing out the pulltabs will find you deep stuff they are masking. The explorer is bada$$, but if a pulltab is at 2" and a coin directly under it is 8 inches, it will miss it.

yes, I was hoping that if I didn't at least find gold I would clear out some junk to get to some good targets. There are tons of bottle caps in the ground there too! <img src="/metal/html/frown.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":(">
I was amazed that I got a multitone target one day..bottle cap range, with a hint of coin. I dug it up, and found a penny inside of a bottle cap. Amazing really.
On that note, have you ever found any good finds in the bottle cap range? Here all the bottle caps seem to come up in the bottom right corner almost everytime. Any good targets fall in this area that you know of!?
