Not up and out quite as early as Mud, but was driving to the spot at 5:40a. We had 2+ to 3+" of rain in the last 24 hours depending on the area. My hunting buddy and I was in hopes that the new moisture might light up a few targets on a spot that has yielded a nice variety of old coins. I was also going to see if there might be a few deepies that the smaller coils might have missed, so put on the big gun 11".

Either one of us ended up not digging a ton of good targets, but I did manage to get the big coil over 2 Mercury dimes that each had a little depth to them. 1 about 7" and the other was 8". 2 wheats in the 40's, another piece of bracelet and a junk ring rounded out the keepers. The Merc's. were 35 and 39. Everyone have a great and safe 4th. HH jim tn

Great! A little moisture helps!:clapping: I bet it was strange swinging that big coil, was it the right tool for the job under those conditions you think?

Today I'm up at 3 for a beach sweep spree!

The big coil did do the job, Mud, but not sure it was actually the right size for this spot. Lots of iron and modern and older trash. In fact, my hunting buddy had his 5" on his 75 and found several more coins in total then I did. The big coil did punch down there, though, and the grass was tall and pretty thick. Hope to see your beach sweep yields you some gold. HH jim tn

That is some great detecting Jim.... You inspire me to keep getting out there. Thanks .....Z
