A couple of finds from a couple of days ago...

Went to the grade school that I've been hitting lately. Found quite a bit of foil and eraser holders, but also managed a cheap ring, and a 1945 nickel. I've almost found as many rings the past six months as I'd found in my detecting career to this point. I did find a few pennies, a few dimes and another nickel, but these are the ones I like the most.

the ring isn't silver ? I have dug a few that looked exactly like that but were silver. I hate those eraser holders - they always sound just like a goodie !! Steve in so az

It might be, 'cause it had a broken silver/copper tone to it. It has a bronzish look in spots, with a copperish patina where it looks like the metal has worn down some. You are right about the eraser holders, but I have noticed they crackel a little bit more, kind of like a zinc penny does on my detector, but I hate to pass them up, because that ring had a sound similar to them too.

Polish that little puppy up and see what's underneath... ya never know <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">
Oh, and for the record, I don't like pencils either. Darn if they don't sound real good...
