A couple of rings and mickey mouse

Was out at the old lake yesterday for a couple hours, found piles of junk and a couple good ones. 2 silver rings, a 1945 merc, dateless buffalo nickle and a neat little mickey mouse and donald duck hair beret. Its cool. Good Luck Hunting!!

You need to use some Nic-A-Date on that Nickel so you can at least know what the date is on it. I like the Mickey Mouse item you found and congrats on your other great finds.

It is an acid that eats away at the softer metal around the Nickels Date. That is why it pulls the date thru so it is visible. A bottle should cost about $5.00 and should be carried by your local coin dealer. The acid is Ferric-Chloride. It comes in a 1 and 1/4 OZ Bottle. All you do is apply it to the date and let it sit for about 5 or so minutes and wipe it off with a cloth. Repeat process until it eats thru the crud on the coin and pulls the date so it is visible. There are a few others I have introduced this acid to on this Forum and they are glad they heard about it and purchased it for their NO-DATE Nickels that they find.

Thanks for the info!! I will have to get me some of that. Do you know if it is a straight ferric chloride? I believe we might have some at work that isnt used anymore, I would have to check. Thanks again for the info and Good Luck Hunting!!

I think it is since that is the only thing listed on the back. I would check in on finding some of the product or some info about it first in case it is deluded with something else but didn't list it.
